Maisy Rose Foster

Born in United Kingdom, North East

Lives and works in Middlesbrough

My name is Maisy Rose and I am an artist whose work explores two- dimensional and three-dimensional aspects aiming to create aesthetic pieces filled with colour and multimedia.

My inspiration for my work came from exploring the diverse costumes used for cultural celebrations and how the use of colour and material can create different atmospheres within each piece.

My work is largely created using 2D multimedia which also includes the use of 3D aspects such as fabric to add further textures and dimension which has led my art to develop into bold portraiture that then uses the fabric to depict aspects of clothing. This is done to both distinguish and balance visual interpretations of aesthetic pleasures.

Within my work I aim to demonstrate how different palettes can create different atmospheres, as darker colours opposed to brighter palettes, sets different moods within the artworks which I find intriguing to play around with. With my work I invite my audience to form their own opinion of the pieces as I aim to solely raise questions around the subject of combining portraiture with fabric and textiles. My artwork aims to spark imagination and add a sense of mystery and curiosity as the viewers may question why my work is created in such a manner.
